CORELLE dinnerware is the original break and chip resistant glass dinnerware. Introduced in 1970, CORELLE is recognized worldwide for its legendary strength and durability. The first of its kind when developed, CORELLE glass dinnerwares underlying technology was an achievement of Corning Glass Works R&D scientists. Corelle glass dinnerware is made through a hub lamination process that thermally bonds three layers of glass: core glass in the middle, with top and bottom layers of very clear skin or glaze glass. The process creates a lightweight, durable, multi-layered product. In addition, the unique enamels used during the decorating process actually become part of the glass, so the patterns last as long as the plate.

Corelle's Ultra line, seventy percent thicker than the company's other lines of tableware, is so durable that Corelle backs the dinnerware with a five-year warranty against breaks and chips. The increased thickness adds heft, giving a substantive feel of quality, yet Ultra still features the compact stacking for which Corelle is famous. Ultra is amazingly tough, considering the product is made of laminated glass, and, because the enamel pigments are fired onto the dinnerware, colors and designs won't fade or scratch off over time. The Retro Tiles pattern features round white shapes with wide borders composed of rows of pink and gray mosaic-like tiles. Each tile is slightly off-kilter and imperfectly square, resulting in a playful quality that contributes a contemporary, casual feel to everyday dining. This starter set includes four of each of the following: 10-3/4-inch dinner plate, 8-1/2-inch salad plate, 15-ounce soup or cereal bowl, and 15-ounce mug.
