Customer Reviews: Breakable?? May 31, 2010 Sharon R. Cariola 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love these dishes because they are so much easier to handle than my old heavy stoneware dishes. The pattern is pretty and loading and unloading the dishwasher is a lot easier.
However, after reading the information that came with the set, I was disappointed. I was under the impression that the Corelle brand dishware was less likely to break than other glass or ceramic dishes. It seems they are definitely breakable and care should be taken to not let them knock together or against other dishes, or they may break unexectedly in the future. The literature says that they can shatter, ending up in lots of tiny sharp shards. There is also a caution regarding using in the microwave oven. So I just purchased some plates at Walmart that are made just for the microwave. Ugly as sin but what can you do?
So I'm treating my new dishes as gently as possible.
